Gabriella Possum is the eldest daughter of the late famous painter, Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri. Gabriella inherited the ‘Milky Way Dreaming’ from her mother and grandmother. Gabriella will sing this story to her daughters so that the dreaming line will continue. Gabriella takes this story back to a place called Twenty Mile, located near Napperby Creek, Northern Territory. Here the seven Napaltjarri sisters travelled the earth, gathering food and water from Purrparlarlu to Kunatjarrayi. Pursued by a Tjakamarra man (Orion), the sisters escaped through a fire at Kurlunyalimpa into the Plaids Constellation (Taurus).
Gabriella was born in Mt.Allan, Northern Territory in 1967. She attended Yirara College in Alice Springs. Gabriella is mostly known for her ‘Milky Way Dreaming’, but she also paints inherited of ‘Bush Tucker’ stories including damper seed, goanna and serpent dreamings.
