Dorothy Napangardi was born in Mina Mina, a sacred and remote area of the Tanami Desert. She is renowned for her ‘Women’s Dreaming’ depictions, of her father’s homeland at Lake McKay. Dorothy has established herself as one of the leading artists of the contemporary Aboriginal Art movement, with a unique and distinctive style.
Dorothy depicts a topographic view of her homeland with fine lines representing salt lakes around dry claypans. These stories also depict the ancestral tracks. She has been painting since 1987.
